The Villages® is a collection of quaint retirement neighborhoods, known as “villages”, located in the heart of Florida nestled between two beautiful coastlines, ports of travel and theme parks. The Villages® is home to 747 holes of golf in more than 50 golf courses, each providing unique features and designs, complemented by picturesque views, beautiful greens and fairways. As of January 2024, there are 13 championship courses (many with three 9-hole courses), 42 executive 9-hole golf courses, 2 short game courses (Pitch & Putt), and 3 instructional golf academies with more continuing to be developed. Make up for all those years of dreaming you were on the course instead of sitting at the office. There are currently 115 recreation centers, each individually themed, with meeting rooms and recreation options inside and outside. There are a huge number of courts for tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, bocce, table tennis, corn toss, basketball, volleyball, horseshoes, croquet and more. Satisfy your crafting desires with facilities for quilting, ceramics, glass blowing, woodworking, and more. In The Villages® community, you’ll find a wide variety of entertainment every day a year! There are live bands 365 days a year outdoors at each 4 town centers (with another under construction). If you are looking for shopping and dining in The Villages®, it’s easy to find what you’re looking for, and almost everything is just a golf car ride away! The town squares and plazas are packed full of shopping and dining experiences for everyone! In addition, many national retailers and local businesses are drawn to the large population of retirees, so there are plenty of shopping centers and stores just beyond the edges of The Villages®.
The Villages® likes to bill itself as America’s Healthiest Hometown, and for good reason. Opportunities to start and maintain your healthy, active lifestyle are convenient and plentiful in The Villages® community. They believe in nurturing the mind, body and spirit and taking steps to ensure a long, happy life. There are 2 hospitals associated with The Villages® as well as free standing emergency rooms and specialty care centers. The Villages Health provides doctors and facilities all around The Villages® to ensure local, golf cart accessible care. In addition, there are many other providers of these services in the area. There is an Enrichment Academy with a wide variety of continuing learning courses with catalogues twice a year. There are over 3,000 social clubs, listed in a weekly newspaper insert, for social connections and many neighborhoods organize their own activities over and above that. They even have a Camp Villages to entertain the visiting grandkids over the summer and some holidays. The Villages® continues to build new homes at a rapid clip in the south end, so new homes are always an option.
